AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas is working with Daktronics to provide an upgrade to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium video and audio capabilities.
Audio and video improvements, all expected to all be completed by the start of 2013 Texas Football season, correspond with Texas Athletics' commitment to providing patrons with a superior fan experience. UT Athletics continues to invest in facilities, amenity areas and innovative services to ensure the most positive, convenient and personal experience. All fans should feel at home in stadia and arenas.
"As we continually look for new and innovative ways to improve the gameday fan experience, we are excited about the investment in cutting-edge technology inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium," said Jeremy Armstrong, UT's Director of Events for Gameday Productions.
The stadium already boasts the largest LED video and scoring system in college football, measuring almost 56 feet tall by 134 feet wide. The current upgrade project will result in nine Sony LED displays to show live action in west-side suite areas.
Daktronics' DMP-8000 provides an in-game channel with a high-definition video feed, which features live-game stats and out-of-town scores.

In addition, UT Athletics is making significant upgrades to the audio capabilities of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. The stadium control room is being modernized to include all digital equipment and additional speaker clusters are being installed. Other equipment additions include new referee microphone system, audio playback system, microphone processors and audio meters.
"The audio upgrades specifically will improve the evenness of sound coverage, allow for more consistent sound pressure levels and improve the intelligibility of voice announcements for each and every fan in attendance," Armstrong said. "This effort assists us in achieving our overall goal of producing the nation's premiere, fully-integrated, collegiate game day experience for the best fans in the country."
