RB Priest Holmes ran for 161 yards on 18 carries and caught two passes for 22 yards in Kansas City's 31-24 loss at the Denver Broncos. Holmes broke his own Chiefs single-season rushing record, pushing his season total to 1,615 rushing yards to top the 1,555 yards he rushed for in 2001. Holmes now has 3,170 career rushing yards with Kansas City, moving ahead of Curtis McClinton (3,124) for sixth in Chiefs history. Holmes also established a Chiefs record by registering his ninth 100-yard rushing game of the season. Holmes has now topped 100 yards in five consecutive games, the longest streak in team history. Denver had not allowed a 100-yard rusher at home in 22 consecutive games. Holmes now has a league-leading 2,287 yards from scrimmage in 2002, surpassing the team record of 2,169 he set in 2001. Those 2,287 yards are the fourth-highest total in NFL history. Holmes also leads the NFL in rushing (1,615 yards), scoring (144 points), rushing touchdowns (21) and total touchdowns (24).

RB Ricky Williams helped Miami move closer to the AFC East title by rushing for 101 yards on 27 carries in a 23-17 home victory against the Oakland Raiders. Williams topped the 100-yard mark for the ninth time this season and the 21st time in his career. He extended his club record for single-season 100-yard games and consecutive 100-yard games (six). Williams ranks second in the NFL with 1,601 yards, an NFL record for a RB in his first year with a new team. He surpassed the former mark of 1,555 yards set by Priest Holmes in 2001. Williams, whose 337 carries are a Dolphins record, also is second in the NFL with 14 rushing touchdowns.
