RB Priest
Holmes ran for 161 yards on 18 carries and caught
two passes for 22 yards in Kansas City's 31-24 loss
at the Denver Broncos. Holmes
broke his own Chiefs single-season rushing record,
pushing his season total to 1,615 rushing
yards to top the 1,555 yards
he rushed for in
2001. Holmes
now has 3,170 career rushing yards with Kansas City,
moving ahead of Curtis McClinton (3,124) for sixth
in Chiefs
history. Holmes also established
a Chiefs record by registering his ninth 100-yard rushing
game of the season. Holmes has now topped 100 yards
in five consecutive games, the longest streak in team
history.
Denver
had not allowed a 100-yard
rusher at home in 22 consecutive games. Holmes now
has a league-leading 2,287 yards from scrimmage in
2002, surpassing the team record of 2,169 he set in
2001. Those 2,287 yards are the fourth-highest
total in NFL history. Holmes also leads the NFL in
rushing (1,615 yards), scoring (144 points), rushing
touchdowns (21) and total touchdowns (24).
