Two Minute DrillTwo-Minute Drill: Tarell Brown

» Two-Minute Drill archives

How was it playing in your first collegiate game two weeks ago?
"I've learned a lot from the older guys and (defensive backs) coach (Duane) Akina has been helping me out a lot too. I'm just trying to play hard, but it's different. It's a lot different from high school. There are a lot more people here and I was nervous. I just want to come out each day and play hard and help the team out where ever I can."

Going into the opener, did you know you were going to get some time against NMSU and how eager were you leading up to the game?
"I was real nervous. I really didn't know how much I was going to play. Coach Akina said he was going to give me an opportunity to play if it came up and it did. I just had to go out there and make the most of my opportunity."

What type of things do you like to do in your spare time away from football?
"Mostly just relax. I like to watch TV or maybe read a little bit. I like to see my family, as well, and spend some time with them whenever I get a chance."

What did you do this past weekend when the team had a couple days off?
"I just stayed here in Austin and hung out and relaxed. If I would have gone home, I probably would've had to come right back. It wasn't really worth it, so I just stayed here at school."

You have only been in Austin for a little over a month now. What are some of your favorite things about the city and the campus?
"I love the atmosphere so far. Everybody loves UT football and almost everybody is a fan. All the fans have love for us around here. Being on campus you can feel the team spirit and the school spirit."

If you could play any other sport at UT, which sport so you think you would like to play?
"Basketball. I love basketball."

Did you play in high school?
"I played in pee wee all the way up to high school. I had to stop my sophomore year because my father really didn't want me to play anymore. From there, I just concentrated on football."
