Drill: Dakarai Pearson
» Two-Minute
Drill archives
Dakarai Pearson is
an athletic and talented former quarterback who has developed into
one of the Big 12's top safeties. In Texas' 66-7 season-opening
victory over New Mexico State on Aug. 31, Pearson was second on
the team with nine tackles as the Longhorns held the Aggies to 75
passing yards. Projected as an honorable mention All-American and
a Thorpe Award candidate by several publications, Pearson recently
took time to talk with MackBrown-TexasFootball.com about his favorite
NFL player, cool uniforms and his class schedule at UT.
What was your impression
of the freshman defensive backs after the first game?
"I believe this group of freshmen is the best class since I've
been here. They came in humble and are willing to learn. They never
had a big head and thought they knew everything when they got here.
All of the freshmen are great players and they are going to help
us a lot this year, as well as in the future."
Who are some players
in the NFL that you would pay to see play?
"Jerry Rice for sure. He's been my favorite player growing
up because he works hard and he does things the right way. That
would be one guy I would love to play against someday. The other
one would have been Deion Sanders, but he's not in the league anymore
so I guess he wouldn't count."
Besides Royal-Memorial
Stadium, in which college football stadium would you like to play?
"It would have to be Florida State. Their fans are always into
the game and they do the tomahawk chop, which I think would be annoying
if you're playing against them, but it would also be exciting."
What teams in the
NFL do you think have the coolest uniforms?
"The Buffalo Bills, the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos
when they wear all blue."
Who do you consider
to be the funniest guy on the team?
"I would go with Erik Hardeman. Freshman come in and always
want to be funny and impress the older guys."
What is your favorite
class you've taken at UT?
Sociology.
What is the hardest
class you've taken at UT?
"MIS (Management Information Systems). That class got on my
nerves. It was a lot work and extremely difficult. I'm glad I got
through it and don't have to take it again."
