Junior David Thomas has already set a career high for yardage in a season and he's looking to continue that as he heads home to play in Lubbock, Texas against Texas Tech. A native of Wolfforth, Texas, a suburb of Lubbock, he has made 10 catches for 228 yards, while scoring three touchdowns, which ties him for third on UT's all-time tight ends list with eight career touchdowns. The star guest of the most recent Kickin' It with the Horns, Thomas took time to run the Two-Minute Drill with MackBrown-TexasFootball.com.
On playing in his hometown:
Any time I get to go home and see my family, it is really special. My whole family will be at the game to support me, so I'm just really excited to play. Even though a lot of people in my town are Tech fans, they told me they would always support me.
On getting back to the success he's had catching the ball:
I feel like every time I step on the field, I have a chance to make a difference for this team. It doesn't matter if it is catching deep balls or run blocking, that I have a chance to help the team. I have confidence in the quarterbacks and myself that we can make big plays.
On playing on the kick return team:
The first thing you have to do is identify which guy I'm assigned to block. Then, I have to sprint to my position on the field. Depending on what return we have called, my job is to either kick my guy out or block him across the field. I think that is one of the hardest blocks to make in football because you have to find your spot on the field and then find your guy, who is sprinting down the field. It is a tough block.
