Two-Minute
Drill: Justin Blalock

Sophomore Justin Blalock has been a starter at
offensive tackle for UT since last season as a redshirt freshman.
He's been able to create holes for back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing
seasons and he is doing everything he can to help Cedric Benson continue
his climb up the NCAA rushing lists. The Plano, Texas native spoke
to MackBrown-TexasFootball.com about the comeback versus Oklahoma
State, the game against Kansas and how roommate Rodrique Wright has
helped him in this edition of the Two-Minute Drill.
On scoring touchdowns on seven-straight possessions:
It seemed almost like no matter how hard we tried, we couldn‚t
fail. It definitely seemed like everything was clicking in the second
half against Oklahoma State. We said at halftime that they played
a career half and we didn‚t think they could duplicate it in
the second. We didn‚t do anything different schematically;
we were just the aggressors in the second half.
On the comeback:
I've only seen a comeback like that once in my life. My high school,
before I played there, came back from 31 points in about five minutes
thanks to four on-sides kicks or something. But, that‚s high
school. I‚ve never even heard of anything like this happening
in college. It was faith by the whole team and I think you could
have gone into that locker room at half time and they all would
have said we were going to win.
On having six 300-yard rushing games this season:
Basically, people prepare for Cedric (Benson) and Vince (Young) to
run the ball and more often than not, we are successful in doing
that. It is great to know that we can dominate the line of scrimmage
even though we are seeing eight and nine men in the box on every
play. I think if we run our offense and are disciplined that we
can keep going.
On guarding against a letdown against Kansas:
It starts with preparation during the week. We were really prepared
last week or we wouldn't have been able to come back the way we
did, if we weren't prepared. Being behind 35-7 at one point is
a good enough reminder that we need to come out running on all
cylinders or something like that can happen.
On playing in colder weather:
I don't really like it because everything hurts more (laughing).
It‚s an 11 o'clock game so I don't think it will be a big
deal. I like playing in cool weather, but cold is not good. But,
the weather really doesn't have anything to do with how we play.
On his relationship with Rodrique Wright:
I think living together has helped us both out a lot. He‚s
seen a little more than I have, so he's been clueing me in on what
people like and don't like. It's kind of like having a spy in the
other position group. |
