B.J.
Johnson |
B.J. Johnson is a smooth, fluid and explosive
fourth-year receiver who is one of the nation's top pass catchers.
Heading into this year, he was rated as the fifth-best receiver
prospect for the 2004 NFL Draft by Lindy's 2003 Pro Football Preview.
A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Johnson currently ranks fourth
among returning Big 12 receivers with 122 catches for 1,840 yards.
Recently, Johnson took time to talk with MackBrown-TexasFootball.com
about his Web show "Kickin' It With the Horns" that he
co-hosts with fellow receiver Sloan Thomas, as well as watching
NFL games on Sunday and keeping up with former Longhorns in the
pros.
"First off, the "Kickin' It With the
Horns" show is going great. Sloan and I did the first show
last week and had a blast. We're going to keep coming up with new
ideas so we can take Kirk Herbstreit's job in a few years at ESPN.
I can't tell any of the stuff coming up, however, because I want
it to be a surprise. Sloan and I have been getting together to come
up with some guests, and we want to make sure they are guys that
want to come on the show and guys that the fans want to see. For
the record, I want to make sure everyone knows we've invited Tony
Jefferey. We told him that he could come on with Coach Drake, but
he declined. I just don't want him going around telling people that
we invited Roy on the show and not him. Besides the show, I've just
been waiting for Sunday to get here. I can't wait to get back on
the field. I'm going to try and relax on Saturday, but it will be
awfully difficult watching other teams play and not competing, as
well. Usuall,y we don't get to watch too many games because we're
either playing, or on Sunday's, we're up at the school watching
tapes from the day before. If I do get time, I love to watch the
former Longhorns in the NFL. I always make sure to check out Ricky
(Williams) and Priest (Holmes) for sure, and Big Mike (Williams),
Leonard (Davis), Casey (Hampton) and the rest of those guys. Of
course this year, I'll also have to keep an eye out for Rod Babers,
Cory Redding, Chris Simms and the rest of the guys that were on
the team last year. It's been really cool to see all the attention
Chris has gotten lately and how well he is doing. Tampa Bay got
the steal of the draft when they took him, and I'm really happy
for him right now. I know he'll be watching us Sunday night if he
can, so I guess it goes two ways where the guys in the NFL make
sure to keep up with how we're doing. I think they'll be happy with
the way we play this Sunday."
