THE
PRACTICE REPORT: The No. 5 Texas Longhorns (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) continued
their preparations for Saturday's contest at Baylor (2-5, 0-5 Big 12)
with a 90-minute practice on Wednesday afternoon at Frank Denius Fields.
The Longhorns opened the workout with 15 minutes of special teams work,
followed by individual and team drills. The Horns also continued to
implement the offensive and defensive game plans against the scout teams
during the latter half of practice.
CAVIL
SPEAKS TO TEAM AFTER PRACTICE: Former UT wide receiver Kwame Cavil,
a 1999 second-team All-American, spoke to the team following Wednesday's
workout. The Waco native, who spent last season as a member of the Buffalo
Bills, caught a school-record 100 passes for a UT single season-record
1,188 yards as a junior in 1999. Cavil finished his Longhorns career
as the second-leading receiver in school history (174 receptions for
2,279 yards).
LOOKING
AHEAD: The Longhorns will wrap up their gameweek preparations on
Thursday afternoon inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. UT's
91st meeting with Baylor is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday
at Floyd Casey Stadium. The game will be televised as the Big 12 Syndicated
Game of the Week and Drew Goodman (play-by-play), Dave Lapham (color)
and Jim Knox (sidelines) will call the action.
