THE
PRACTICE REPORT: No. 5 Texas (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) began its preparations
for this weekend's game against Kansas (2-6, 1-5 Big 12) with a two-hour
practice on Tuesday afternoon at Frank Denius Fields. The Longhorns
opened the workout with 15 minutes of special teams work, followed by
30 minutes of individual drills. The team also worked on one-on-one
drills, scrimmage situations and began to implement the offensive and
defensive game plans against the scout teams.
INJURY UPDATE: Senior offensive guard Antwan Kirk-Hughes, who
has missed the past two games with a sprained ankle, returned to practice
this afternoon. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Tillman Holloway (stinger)
will miss this weekend's game against Kansas and be re-evaluated next
week.
HOME SWEET HOME: UT enters Saturday's game against Kansas on a 12-game
home winning streak, its longest since a school-record 42-gamer from
1968-76 (No. 6 in NCAA history). It is tied for the fifth-longest home
winning streak in school history and the Horns have put up at least
40 points in the last 11 home games. UT, which will be aiming for its
third undefeated home slate in the last four years on Saturday, is 20-2
under the direction of head coach Mack Brown at Darrell K Royal-Texas
Memorial Stadium.
"FAN"-TASTIC: Saturday's game, which has been sold out
for nearly a month, will mark the 10 consecutive sellout at Darrell
K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. In fact, UT has played in front of sellout
crowds at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in 18 of the 20 home contests.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Longhorns will continue their gameweek preparations
for the Kansas game with practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Tomorrow's
workout will be at Denius Fields, while Thursday's session will take
place inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Saturday's game
against the Jayhawks is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. (CT). The contest,
which will not be televised, can be heard across the Longhorn Sports
Network. Bill Schoening (play-by-play), Craig Way (color) and Brian
Jones (sidelines) will call the action.
