ORLANDO,
Fla. - University of Texas senior cornerback Quentin Jammer and
senior offensive tackle Mike Williams both were selected as Walter Camp
Football Foundation All-Americans, the organization announced Thursday
during ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
Jammer,
who also was recognized as a Thorpe Award finalist during Thursday's
show, registered 55 tackles (46 solo), three TFLs, a pair of interceptions,
one forced fumble and a UT-record 24 pass breakups this season. He has
helped Texas lead the country in total defense (236.2 ypg) and to top
10 national finishes in rushing (89.5/sixth), passing (146.7 ypg/third),
pass efficiency (88.0 rtg/fourth) and scoring defense (13.7/third).
The Longhorns have allowed a national-low 4.77 yards per pass attempt
and just six touchdown passes (tied for second-lowest nationally) this
year. The two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection has a UT-record 57
career PBUs.
Williams
registered 62 pancake blocks and 61 knockdowns and allowed only one
sack this season (stats through first 11 games). Also a first-team All-Big
12 performer, he helped the UT offense score a Big 12-best 39.2 points
per game (fifth NCAA) and tally 162.3 rushing, 250.3 passing and 412.6
total yards per contest. The 6-foot-6, 339-pounder also was the leader
of a Longhorns offensive line that opened holes for UT's seventh consecutive
1,000-yard rusher (Cedric Benson, 1,053 yards).
It marks
the second consecutive year that the Longhorns placed two players on
the prestigious All-America team and the ninth time in school history.
Last year, offensive tackle Leonard Davis and defensive tackle Casey
Hampton were named All-Americans. Thirty-three Longhorns have earned
a total of 37 All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
The Walter
Camp Football Foundation's team is the widely recognized as the nation's
most prestigious and respected All-America squads. The foundation began
honoring college football players in 1889 and the All-Americans are
selected by the country's head coaches and sports information directors.
The 10th-ranked
Longhorns (10-2, 7-1 Big 12 South Champions) return to the practice
field next Friday in preparation for their matchup with No. 20 Washington
(8-3, 6-2 Pac-10) in the Culligan Holiday Bowl.
