Texas continues preparations for UNC game
Coach
Brown's post-practice comments (.mp3)
THE PRACTICE REPORT:
In its final workout at Frank Denius Fields before playing North
Carolina on Saturday, the No. 3 Texas football team had a 90-minute
workout on Wednesday afternoon. The team continued its work on all
phases of the kicking game and individual position drills before
wrapping up the session with work against the scout teams.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Prior
to Wednesday's practice, the Longhorns took some time to honor the
victims of last year's terrorist attacks. The team held a private
one-hour memorial service at the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Complex
team meeting room. The squad sang "God Bless America,"
had a moment of silence and talked about the importance of the national
tragedy that happened a year ago today.
BYE WEEKS AND ROAD
GAMES: The Longhorns have had a great deal of success following
bye weeks in recent years. Since Mack Brown took over the UT program
in 1998, the Horns have posted a 6-1 record following regular-season
bye weeks. UT, which takes to the road for the first time this season,
has won its last eight road games (not including neutral site contests)
and is 13-5 under Mack Brown on the road. The Horns' eight consecutive
road victories is their longest road victory string since 1981-84
when the Horns tallied 13 straight wins away from Darrell K Royal-Texas
Memorial Stadium.
UP NEXT: The
Longhorns will wrap up their preparations for Saturday's game with
a one-hour practice on Thursday afternoon at Darrell K Royal-Texas
Memorial Stadium. The squad will depart for Chapel Hill on Friday
morning and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CDT) at Kenan Memorial
Stadium.
