Spring Semester: David Thomas

David ThomasOn Saturday's practice in the stadium:

"It was a lot of fun. We had a really physical practice and it is fun to have the pads on. The Rose Bowl was a lot of fun and we enjoyed that but it is good to get back out here. We have a new team and new goals we want to reach."

On a major receiving role:
"I feel that since I am a senior now it is time for me to step up, be a leader and take a big part of offense. I am excited about my senior year, it has gone by way too fast."

On Jordan Shipley's recovery:
"It just shows how hard he worked. When it happened, he took it really well and didn't get down. First thing he said was 'I will just rehab and get ready for spring.' He set that goal when it first happened and now he is out here making plays. I am so happy for him right now. (His cuts on the field) are unbelievable and it just shows how hard he works."

On playing multiple positions:
"Right now I haven't spent a whole lot of time in different spots, but I know what to do if they want to throw me out there. I think we will get into that a little more once the spring progresses."

On the departure of Bo Scaife:
"It is a little different not having Bo around. We were always out there having fun together and it is taking some getting used. We definitely miss him, but I guess we will have to get (Neale) Tweedie, (Peter) Ullman and (Steve) Hogan to step up and take his place. We feel that anyone who is willing to work hard, be a player and make plays can be a leader for this team. Whether I am a senior or a freshman, we feel that guys can be leaders."

On the younger tight ends:
"Everyday those guys come out and work really hard. I try to help them in everyway I can. Tweedie is coming from defense so he is trying to smooth the edges up a little bit. Peter (Ullman) is still young and has a lot to learn. We are trying to work hard together and are learning something everyday."
