Spring Semester: Justin Blalock

On the progress of Spring Practice:
"I think it's going really well. We are half way done already and now we have a chance to sit down and evaluate all of the talent we have on the team. We have been really on tempo the last few days and we are really getting after it."

On the offensive line:
"I wouldn't exactly say we picked up where we left off from in the fall, but we're pretty close. We were a little bit rusty the first few days back but we are playing physical now. We are starting to set the stage for where we want to be next year."

On his goals:
"It is hard to have individual goals as a lineman. Playing as a unit is important is very important. It would be nice to earn post-season awards, but I would trade wins for those awards any day."

On being in a leadership position:
"It has been a big change. It's funny because I used to be the one who looked around for advice. Now that I am an older player on the team, guys ask us for advice. I definitely welcome the role. It's fun to help younger guys out with problems they might have and that I have been through. It's a good feeling to help somebody else."

On a change in playing mentality:
"I wouldn't say I was just happy to be here as a freshman, but I definitely appreciate what I have a lot more now. I think I put forth a lot better effort now. But I am a lot more scrappy than when I first came in."

On his footwork:
"I have been known to cut a rug in my day. Just kidding. I guess some of it is innate ability, but there are drills you do to work on being quick. It's a stepping-stone. There are a lot of things we do out here on the field and in the weight room to improve."

On his relationship with roommate Rodrique Wright:
"Having Rod on the field with me is kind of like having a spy, someone on the inside [of the defense]. We help each other out. We tell each other things about the other side of the field that we like and that we hate since I am an offensive lineman and he is a defensive lineman. It is definitely a helpful relationship."
