On today's practice:
"We are taking the approach this week that this is a game week. So this is the first week of the season. We want the young guys to prepare and the old guys to prepare like this is the build up. We'll practice today, practice tomorrow and have some film on Wednesday and then we will come back and practice on Thursday in shorts. That will be our third day in shorts.
"Then we'll prepare for a 7:00 game on Saturday night. It will be game time atmosphere this weekend. We have a lot of recruits coming and I think we will have a big crowd. We just want the guys to feel like they need to finish spring better than they started. One of our words to them when we started is there is no finish line in spring practice. It is not the end of the season, it is really the beginning. So we are looking for a great game this weekend."
On the spring game:
"We'll do a lot of the things that we did last season. We will not show a lot of new things that we have done in practice. We will have a similar point system like we did last year. We will do a better job of getting that system to the fans. We will have a score keeper instead of Coach Tomey.
"We will have someone who is not offense or defense scoring. We have had (first team) full speed against (second team) all spring. We have hit quite a bit more this spring than we did last spring. We have been more physical and we will go into the game that way on Saturday. Then I will have to decide how long we play, but it will be a full speed game.
"We are trying to get two deep at every position so that can win every game. There are a lot of guys that have not played a lot in front of the crowd. This is a great game day atmosphere for them to feel that pressure and the build up and see how they respond to it. Last year the guys really liked the Saturday night atmosphere."
On Vince Young:
"I don't think Vince feels the pressure. He feels a great amount of pride now that this is his team. He has practiced that way this spring and I can't wait for our fans to see he play on Saturday night."
On Ramonce Taylor:
"He has had a great spring. I think it will be fun for the fans to see him. Ramonce will be number 11 on Saturday night." |
