NFL draft analysts project Benson, Johnson as biggest impact picks of 2005

When asked to select a player from the 2005 NFL Draft that would have the biggest impact on his team next season, two ESPN analysts were quick to select Longhorns draftees RB Cedric Benson and LB Derrick Johnson.

Former NFL General Manager Randy Mueller chose Benson:
"I'm going to say Cedric Benson, the running back from Texas and now with the Chicago Bears. I think he's a guy right now whose as polished as there is in this draft. You can give it to him tomorrow 25 times and he's gonna run for 130. I think he'll run down hill between the tackles. I think this guy will become Rex Grossman's best pal. He's gonnal find a way to get him the ball. I think Cedric Benson is going to be a really good player and have an impact this year. Lovie Smith wants to control the clock. He wants to have a field position game and wants to run the ball 30 times if he can and this is the guy that can do it. He has proven that he can carry a team week-to-week and year-to-year."

Former NFL QB Ron Jaworski chose Johnson:
"I'm gonna go to the defensive side of the ball and that's gonna be Derrick Johnson, the number one pick of the Kansas City Chiefs. Quickness, agility and he tackles very well. He doesn't take on blocks very well, but he'll learn to. The NFL linebacker position is about being an athlete, chasing plays down. He can run around blocks and still make plays. That's what Derrick Johnson does. He's an athlete. He gets to the ball with great pursuit. He will be a great fit in Gunther Cunningham's defense."
