| 6/23/05 FSN Southwest to preview 2005 Texas Football magazine It's been described as the most anticipated printed material in Texas since the paycheck. Waiting for Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine to hit the newsstands has become an annual rite of summer in the football-crazed state for the last five decades. Fans eagerly look forward to who will grace the cover of what is widely known throughout the state as the Bible of Texas football. Now for the first time in the storied publication's 46 years, FSN Southwest presents a 30-minute television special tracing the magazine's history and previewing the 2005 edition. TEXAS FOOTBALL MAGAZINE: COVER STORY 2005 premieres Thursday, June 23 at 6:30 PM CT on the eve of this year's magazine's official public release date. Replays are Friday, June 24 at 1:30 PM CT and Saturday, June 25 at 12:30 PM CT. Hosted by Ric Renner, the program details how the magazine is put together and explores the procedure for choosing the annual cover, including behind-the-scenes footage of the 2005 cover photo shoot. Managing editor Jake Shaw explains the criteria he and his staff use to pick the cover. Legendary Texas sportswriter Dave Campbell, who founded the magazine in 1960 from his kitchen table in Waco, shares his memories of the publication's early years and reminisces about past cover boys. "As a kid growing up in Texas I couldn't wait to get my hands on the magazine," said FSN Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager and Amarillo native Jon Heidtke. "The arrival of Texas Football always signaled the official start of the football season. I would spend days pouring through all the information. Now I'm excited to pull back the curtain and give our viewers a chance to see what goes into assembling what I consider to be the most informative football source in the state." The annual publication is packed with names, stats and season outlooks. Printed and published by Host Communications Inc, this year marks the 46th edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football. With more than 350 pages, this year's magazine includes sections on professional, collegiate and high school football in Texas. The redesigned 2005 high school section contains 152 pages of information sure to excite gridiron fans around the state. The 2005 edition also features a look into Texas' "Friendly Rivalry" between standout quarterbacks Vince Young (Texas) and Reggie McNeal (Texas A&M); exclusive, behind-the-scenes coverage of the Houston Texans' draft day, a.k.a. the fastest 15 minutes in football; the Dave Campbell's Super Team (presented by Reebok) and team-by-team coverage of more than 1,300 high school football teams.
