7/8/05 Crowder named to Hendricks Award watch list
AUSTIN, Texas - Junior defensive end Tim Crowder has been named to the Hendricks Award watch list, the Hendricks Foundation has announced. First presented in 2002 when UT's Cory Redding was a finalist, the award honors the nation's top defensive end. Crowder is one of 24 players named to the watch list. Named for Ted Hendricks, a University of Miami three-time Collegiate All-American and NFL Hall of Famer, the award is based on several criteria including on-field performance, leadership abilities and contributions to school and community. Candidates may represent any class (freshman though senior) from any four-year NCAA accredited school. Crowder led the Longhorns with 4.5 sacks and 22 quarterback pressures in 2004. He also had 10 tackles for loss. He finished the year with 47 tackles, four passes batted down and one caused fumble. As a result, the Tyler, Texas native earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. For his career, Crowder has tallied 82 tackles (48 solo), 5.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 36 QB pressures and nine passes batted down. |
