Named the defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans in 2011 after spending one season as the secondary coach of the Seattle Seahawks in 2010. He served as the secondary/cornerbacks coach of the Washington Redskins from 2005-09 after previously working as the defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills from 2001-05. He worked the previous four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, serving two as a defensive quality control coach before serving the final two as the secondary coach.
Gray was a two-time consensus All-American safety at Texas in 1983 and 1984 before being selected as a first-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams (21st overall) in the 1985 NFL Draft. In the NFL, Gray was selected to the Pro Bowl four times during his nine year career with the Rams (1985-91), Houston Oilers (1992) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1993). He earned the NFL's Defensive Back of the Year award in 1989 and earned Pro Bowl MVP honors in 1990. He finished his career with 28 career INTs.
