AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns have scheduled home football games with BYU and UTEP for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, The University of Texas announced Tuesday. UT will host BYU on Sept. 10, 2011 and UTEP on Sept. 8, 2012.
The Longhorns also confirmed the Texas-Texas A&M game will remain on Thanksgiving Night for the next two years. Television and kickoff times for the Thanksgiving Day State Farm Lone Star Showdown games with the Aggies have not been set.
Texas and BYU played a home and home series in 1987 and 1988 with the Cougars winning both contests. UT and UTEP have played four times with the Horns claiming victory in all four meetings.
The Longhorns have won a UT record 19-straight non-conference regular season games, tied for the nation’s second-longest active non-conference winning streak. That streak eclipsed the Horns’ previous-best 15-game non-conference winning string from 1945-48. Texas is also riding a school-record non-conference road-winning streak of 11, which betters the previous mark of seven from 1956-63.
