Why did you decide to attend the University of Texas? It is a prestigious program, and I felt like it was the best place for me because I am a [defensive back] and this is the DBU. Also the academics system here is great, and that is what helped me decide on Texas.
What are your thoughts about being at the same school that produced guys like Michael Huff, Michael Griffin, Aaron Ross and all the other great DBs? It is definitely a big deal because I know I have the potential to be as good as those guys, and I am at the place where I have the coach to help me get there.
What are your thoughts on head coach Mack Brown? He is a good guy. I was talking to him a little earlier and he doesn't raise his voice, and I like that about him. He is a good guy.
Why do you think so many DeSoto High players have ended up at Texas? It is a good school and so is Texas.
Did you know any of the other defensive back recruits before you met them here? Yes. I knew Kendall Sanders, but I don't think he knew I was going to play DB and thought I would play receiver. Kevin Vaccaro, I didn't really know him but I met him on my visit. And Adrian Colbert I knew from track.
Are you fitting well into the collegiate life this summer? Yes. I just have to manage my time. That is probably going to be the hardest thing for me, but I think I will be okay.
What do you think it will feel like to run through tunnel for the first time with your name on a jersey? It is going to feel good. It is going to feel amazing coming out of that tunnel.
Do you feel like this is a new chapter in your life? Yes. When I was moving everything in, I was thinking about that a lot.
What advice did you family give you before you left home? They basically said to stay focused and keep your head on straight. Just work hard in class and on the field.
