10:03 - Texas improved to 75-7-2 (.905) when opening the season at home.

10:02 - Texas improved to 96-17-3 (.841) all-time in season-openers.

9:29 p.m. - Since Mack Brown took over in 1998, UT has produced 35 games of 500 or more yards of toal offense (there are only 58 of the in the 116 years of Texas football).

9:24 p.m. - Texas has logged at least 400 yards of total offense for the 60th time in the last 90 games and has registered 200 yards both passing and rushing for the 41st time under Mack Brown and Greg Davis.

9:22 p.m. - With his game apparently over, Blaine Irby logged career highs with seven receptions and 62 receiving yards.

9:19 p.m. - Texas has scored 50 or more points in a game to open the year for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Longhorns scored 66 against New Mexico State in 2003, 65 against North Texas in 2004, 60 against Louisiana-Lafayette in 2005, 56 against North Texas in 2006 and 21 against Arkansas State in 2007.

9:17 p.m. - Texas has scored 50 or more points for the 34th time since Mack Brown's arrival.

9:13 p.m. - The 29-yard TD pass from John Chiles to James Kirkendoll marked the first career TD pass for Chiles and the first career TD reception for Kirkendoll.


 

 

9:08 p.m. - With his day apparently done, Colt McCoy finished 24-of-29 passing for 222 yards, three TD and no interceptions through the air and 103 yards and one TD on 12 rushes.

9:01 p.m. - Colt McCoy has joined Vince Young as the only player in UT history to pass for 200 or more yards and rush for 100 or more yards more than once in a career. Vince Young did the deed on five occasions, including two 200 passing and 200 rushing efforts.

8:57 p.m. - Hunter Lawrence's 40-yard field goal with 13:09 remaining in the fourth quarter was the first of his career.

8:55 p.m. - Colt McCoy went over 100 yards rushing for the second in his career.

8:54 p.m. - The announced attendance for today's game is 98,053. The mark is a Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium record.

8:53 p.m. - Texas is 90-5 when leading after three quarters in the Mack Brown era.

8:52 p.m. - Texas has 408 yards of total offense. Entering today's game, the Longhorns were 80-2 when logging more than 400 yards of total offense in a game in the Mack Brown era.

8:50 p.m. - McCoy has over 300 yards of total offense after three quarters. He has thrown for 222 yards on 24-of-28 passing and has rushed for 94 yards on 11 carries.

8:39 p.m. - McCoy has passed for 200 or more yards in a game for the 18th time in his career, tying him for third place on UT's career list with Chris Simms and Peter Gardere. The trio trails only Major Applewhite (29) and James Brown (20) on the list.

8:37 p.m. - With his 5-yard TD pass to Blaine Irby, McCoy moved into sole possession third place on UT's career passing TD list with 54. He now trails only Major Applewhite (60) and Chris Simms (58).

8:36 p.m. - Texas' sixth TD drive of the game covered 17 yards on four plays. The 1:36 drive was capped by a 5-yard TD pass from Colt McCoy to Blaine Irby with 7:25 remaining in the third quarter.

8:35 p.m. - Blaine Irby's 5-yard TD reception with 7:25 remaining in the third quarter was the first of his career.

8:32 p.m. - Earl Thomas' blocked punt midway through the third quarter was the first of his career.

8:26 p.m. - Colt McCoy punted for the fourth time in his career, landing the ball at the FAU 2-yard line. All four of his career punts have pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line.

8:13 p.m. - Texas' fifth TD drive went 70 yards on four plays, encompassing 1:04. McGee capped off the drive with a 7-yard TD run with 13:56 remaining in the third quarter.

8:12 p.m. - Vondrell McGee's 7-yard TD run with 13:56 remaining in the third quarter was the ninth of his career.

8:10 p.m. - Colt McCoy's 31-yard pass to Jordan Shipley on the second play of the second half put him into fifth place on UT's career passing yardage list, passing Vince Young (6,040). He moved to 6,061 yards.

7:58 p.m. - Colt McCoy's first-half numbers (18-of-19 for 160 yards and two TDs) bumped his career passing yardage to 6,033 yards. He is now just seven yards shy of Vince Young (6,040) for fifth place on UT's career list.

7:47 p.m. - Texas stretched out its time of possession edge in the first half, holding the ball 16:58 to just 13:02 for Florida Atlantic. The Longhorns have outrushed the Owls 101-13 in the first half.

7:40 p.m. - Texas has 18 first downs in the first half, but have been converting early, only reach third down on two occasions. The Longhorns are 2-of-4 on third down conversions and 1-of-1 on fourth down conversions.

7:37 p.m. - Texas' offense has spread the ball around to seven different receivers, including five receivers with at least two receptions.

7:31 p.m. - McCoy's TD 2-yard TD run with 3:25 remaining in the second quarter was the seventh of his career. He is 16-17 for 153 yards and 2 TD in the air with 40 rushing yards and four carries.

7:23 p.m. - McCoy had his consecutive completion streak snapped at 13. It marks a new school record topping Vince Young's 12 against Oklahoma State in 2004.

7:16 p.m. - Texas' scoring drive was 80 yards on 10 plays, taking 4:23 off the clock. The TD reception by Shipley was the 10th of his career.

7:15 p.m. - McCoy's TD pass to Shipley was the 53rd of his career, tying him with James Brown for third place on the UT all-time list.

7:12 p.m. - Colt McCoy tied the single-game record for most consecutive pass completions with 12 on his 9-yard TD pass to Jordan Shipley with 9:01 remaining in the second quarter.

7:08 p.m. - Colt McCoy has completed 10 consecutive pass attempts for the third time in his career. It marks the first time he has done it in one game. He became just the third Longhorn to complete 10 or more consecutive passes in one game, joining Vince Young with 12 against Oklahoma State in 2004 and Chris Simms with 10 against Texas Tech in 2001.

7:06 p.m. - Blaine Irby has recorded multiple catches in a game for the first time in his career.

7:02 p.m. - Walter Leroy kicked a 31-yard field goal for FAU. It was the 30th of his career, making him 30-of-45.

6:55 p.m. - Texas owned a slight advantage in time of possession in the first half, holding the ball for 7:35. The Longhorns outrushed the Owls 73 to (-5) in the opening stanza. Vondrell McGee rushed for 39 yards on five carries and Colt McCoy had one rush for 25 yards.

6:53 p.m. - John Gold's 44-yard punt with 0:36 remaining in the first quarter was the first of his career.

6:51 p.m. - Ryan Palmer's other career interception came in 2006 against Texas Tech.

6:49 p.m. - Ryan Palmer's interception with 1:48 remaining in the first quarter was the second of his career.

6:46 p.m. - Colt McCoy has completed his first seven passes for 63 yards, putting him 104 shy of Vince Young on the UT career passing yarding list at 5,936. Young through for 6,040 yards in his career.

6:42 p.m. - Texas' TD drive covered 80 yards on eight plays. The drive consumed 3:26 and was capped off by Colt McCoy's 52nd career TD pass, a 2-yarder to Chris Ogbonnaya. McCoy is now one TD shy of James Brown (53) for third place on the UT career list.

6:41 p.m. - Chris Ogbonnaya's 2-yard TD reception with 3:15 remaining in the first quarter was the first of his career.

6:38 p.m. - With 4:40 remaining in the first quarter Vondrell McGee is already halfway to his career-high of 80 rushing yards.

6:33 p.m. - Quan Cosby caught a pass in the 33rd consecutive game midway through the first quarter.

6:26 p.m. - Hunter Lawrence's extra-point kick following the Longhorns' first TD marked his first career point.

6:23 p.m. - Texas scoring drive was eight plays for 61 yards. The Longhorns got five first downs and took 2:57 off the clock. The drive featured six rushes for 46 yards, includinng 34 yards on four carries by Vondrell McGee.

6:22 p.m. - Cody Johnson's 1-yard TD run with 8:48 remaining in the first half was the first of his career.

6:17 p.m. - Malcolm Williams caught his first career pass (7 yards) with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

6:15 p.m. - Sergio Kindle's fumble recovery with 11:45 remaining in the first quarter was the first of his career.

6:08 p.m. - Texas starting defense included DE Brian Orakpo, DT Roy Miller, DT Lamarr Houston and DE Henry Melton on the defensive line, SLB Sergio Kindle, MLB Rashad Bobino, WLB Roddrick Muckelroy backing the line and RCB Ryan Palmer, RS Earl Thomas, LS Blake Gideon and LCB Chykie Brown in the secondary.

6:06 p.m. - Justin Tucker will kickoff for Texas. The first career kick for the true freshman.

6:04 p.m. - Florida Atlantic calls tails. Coin lands with tails up. FAU wins the toss and elects to receive. Texas elects to defend the South End Zone. 

6:02 p.m. - Official gamet time temperature is 88 degrees with a relative humidity of 55 percent and winds out of the Southeast at 5-10 mph.

5:59 p.m. - Today's game captains for Texas are #6 Quan Cosby and #99 Roy Miller.

5:54 p.m. - Longhorn sophomore receiver Brandon Collins will miss today's season opener against Florida Atlantic as a result of an administrative error that resulted in a violation of financial aid regulations, Longhorn Men's Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds confirmed today.  He will be permitted to return to action for the UTEP game next Saturday.

5:49 p.m. - In its previous 115 years of football, UT is 95-17-3 (.839) in season-opening games. The Longhorns are 74-7-2 (.904) when they open the year at home. Head coach Mack Brown enters his 11th year at UT having won 11 of his last 12 and 17 of his last 20 season-opening games. He is 9-1 in openers at UT, including eight in a row, and was 8-2 at North Carolina. In Brown's 10 openers at Texas, the Longhorns have outscored their opponents 474-106.

5:43 p.m. - Vince Young, who just had his jersey number retired in a pre-game ceremony, is addressing the Longhorns crowd.

5:32 p.m. - The temperature is currently 91 degrees at the stadium. Forecasts are calling for high 80s during the game with slight chance of precipitation.

5:20 p.m. - All of the Longhorns have made their entrance and are completing pre-game stretching. Today, both Quan Cosby and Rashad Bobino will be appearing in their 40th career game.

5:10 p.m. - This marks Texas' ninth game against a Florida-based school. The Longhorns laced faced a Sunshine State foe in 2007, toppling UCF 35-32 on the road. Texas is also 2-0-1 all-time against the University of Florida and 2-2 against the University of Miami. The Longhorns have never faced Florida International University, Florida State University or the University of South Florida.

5:00 p.m. - Both teams' special teams units have taken the field. Ryan Bailey, Hunter Lawrence and Justin Tucker have all hit on kicks of over 50 yards with the wind blowing in from the east.
