Tracking the Longhorns: Sept. 7
Sept. 7, 2010
RB Fozzy Whittaker On what needs to be worked on after the Rice game: We need to continue to try to be more physical, read our blocks a little more, set them up and stay downhill. On the excitement for the home opener: It's very exciting. I can't wait to get out here, back in Austin, in front of our home crowd. They show us a lot of love. I know they'll be loud and cheering us on. I can't wait. On his performance against Rice: I feel like I did alright. There is always room for improvement, and I'm hoping to work on that throughout this week and get better against Wyoming and each week after. On what he needs to improve upon: In the last game, I didn't pass protect as well as I wanted to. So this week, Coach Applewhite and I got together and did a little more emphasis on pass protection. That was one of the key things that I felt I needed to improve heavily on, so that is one of the major things that I am working on now. On being fully healthy: It feels great. It's one of those surreal moments that just comes to reality and you realize you're finally healthy -not banged up - and you just have to take advantage of it.
WR James Kirkendoll
On the run-pass balance: We just tried to establish the run. It is an open-ended game, and we just wanted to see what works and what did not work.
On his impression of the passing attack: I think we had a balanced attack. I think that over the next couple games, the defense is going to be a lot better, so we will have a lot more chances on the outside to make plays. On WR Malcolm Williams: I think that he had a good game. He had a long, explosive catch on a forty-yard post. I think that he played really well. He made plays and did what he can do. On Wyoming: I think that Wyoming will have a little bit better defense [than Rice]. When we challenged them last year, Wyoming's defense was really good, but we will have plenty of opportunities. Especially in the wideout group this week.
