AUSTIN, Texas -- A home and home football series with Pac-10 foe California and Big Ten opponent Minnesota has been scheduled for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, The University of Texas announced Friday. The Longhorns will travel to Minneapolis on Sept. 19, 2015 and to Berkeley on Sept. 10, 2016. The Bears will visit Austin on Sept. 12, 2015 and the Gophers will return to Austin on Sept. 17, 2016.
The Longhorns and Bears have met four times with UT holding a 4-0 advantage. The last time the two teams met was in 1970, a 56-15 Texas victory in Austin. The teams also met in 1969 (17-0 in Berkeley), 1961 (28-3 in Berkeley) and 1959 (33-0 in Austin). Texas and Minnesota have met only once in the programs' histories, a 47-19 Minnesota win in 1936.
Texas also announced it has filled a pair of non-conference dates for 2013 and 2014 with home games against New Mexico State on Aug. 31, 2013 and North Texas on Aug. 30, 2014.
UT holds a 4-0 all-time advantage over New Mexico State with all four games being played in Austin. Texas and North Texas will meet for the 10th time in the programs' histories. The Longhorns have won the previous nine meetings, all in Austin.
Texas has won 15 straight non-conference games, which is tied for the second-longest non-conference winning streak in the nation and is tied for the longest in UT history with a 15-game streak from 1945-48. Texas is also currently on a school-record non-conference road-winning streak of 10, which bettered the previous mark of seven from 1956-63.
