GameDay to be on hand for Texas-Missouri

Oct. 12, 2008

Longhorn fans will once again have the opportunity to be a part of the ESPN College GameDay experience, as the show is set to cover the team for the second consecutive week and the 10th time in its history when No. 1 Texas meets No. 11 Missouri in Austin on Saturday.

The set will be located on the south side of the UT Tower with the broadcast beginning at 9 a.m. Central. More details on the show's set up will be available soon.

Overall, Texas is 6-3 with the GameDay crew in attendance. It has visited Austin on four occasions, including 2006 when No. 1 Ohio State defeated No. 2 Texas, 24-7; 2005 when No. 2 Texas defeated No. 10 Texas Tech, 52-17; 2003 when No. 13 Texas defeated No. 16 Kansas State, 24-20; and 1999 when No. 18 Texas upset No. 3 Nebraska, also by the score of 24-20.

GameDay just completed its third trip to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry in covering Texas' 45-35 win over then-No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday. In the previous two visits, No. 3 Oklahoma defeated No. 5 Texas, 14-3 in 2001, and No. 2 Oklahoma defeated No. 3 Texas, 35-24 in 2002.

GameDay was also on hand on two other occasions in 2005 for the first-ever matchup between Texas and Ohio State, when the No. 2 Longhorns defeated the No. 4 Buckeyes, 25-22, in Columbus, Ohio, and then for the 2005 BCS National Championship Game when No. 2 Texas defeated No. 1 USC, 41-38.

This year will mark the 15th consecutive season College GameDay will originate from the site of the day's best game (generally announced the Monday before the game). Chris Fowler hosts the popular Saturday morning news and analysis show with analysts Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit.
