Uli's turn: Oct. 22
Oct. 22, 2008
Oct. 22: Hello Longhorns Fans, What a great couple of weeks. In the past two weeks we have played two of the best teams in the country, and the next two weeks may be even tougher. Our next game is Oklahoma State and it will be a huge challenge for us. OSU is undefeated and a highly ranked team, but all of that aside, they have given us huge fits for the past few years. Our biggest challenge will be to start fast and weather OSU’s storm. The past few years, our slow starts have really put us in challenging situations and we have been fortunate to be resilient in the fourth quarter and come out with a win. One guy that will be helping the offensive line start fast is Chris Hall. As many people know, Chris is a devout Christian and son of a pastor. He is such an inspiration to people on our team. The discipline that he has is epitomized by his faith, but can be seen throughout his life. As a football player, Chris’ discipline it a huge reason why he was able to play all five positions on the offensive line last year. He was the back-up for every position at one point last season, earning him the nickname C-Strom (the Storm is the name of our second unit on offensive). He listens to exactly what Coach McWhorter asks of him and then goes out and executes it. Chris is also the director of our offensive line. As the center, he is responsible for getting all five of us on the same page every play. It is a big responsibility, but I think everyone would agree he is the right man for the job. We are really excited about next week. We know that it will take a lot of hard work, but that is really a strong point for this team. We are willing to put aside the distractions and continue to work. We know it is not the best team that wins each week, but the team that plays the best that Saturday. We can’t wait to see all of you this weekend. Come Early, Be Loud, Wear Orange, and Hook ‘Em.
