RB Fozzy Whittaker
On the attitude of the team: We’re getting back to work. Last week we didn’t have our best showing. The only thing on our minds is getting focused and making sure we come out here next week to handle business.

On what the team is doing to get focused: I think we may have lost a little focus during the game. We might not have been as prepped up. We just have to go out there and have that same mental focus that we had going into Lincoln, and keep carrying that over into practice and throughout the week and bring it to game day.

On how the team feels being 4-3: We do feel a little bit down. At the same time, there are great teams out there that we’re playing against that have come and brought it to us. We have to be better in our focus and our preparation, and be able to play on top to the best of our abilities.

On having the attitude that you can win every game: That’s typically what we try to do. As you saw last week we weren’t able to get that accomplished. This week we’re hoping to have better focus and be more mentally in tune.

On defending home field: It’s always a sense of home pride playing on your home turf and being in front of your fans that come out here to support you. You want to lay it out on the line no matter what. Being able to play in front of 100,000 fans is always an atmosphere you want to compete in.

On Baylor’s defensive speed: They have a lot of high-emotion guys that can run around and fly. They have big pluggers in the middle. Their linebackers flow everywhere. Their DBs are all over the place. They play with a lot of emotion. We have to match that emotion.

WR John Chiles
On practice today: It has been pretty good. Everybody just kind of went back to work today. We went back to the basics, bonded as a team, and dug our heels in the dirt a little bit more.

On what is being emphasized in practice: I think everyone being accountable for their play is the biggest thing—the linemen blocking the right way, the receivers catching the ball, the quarterback having the right read. Everyone just needs to do their job and be accountable, and when you do that, it makes for a good team.

On interactions among the team: We are just sharing encouraging words. For everybody, the main thing is just to stay positive and build each other up. This is the time where we have to be the most positive, when things are not going as planned.

On stadium atmosphere: I think that we always have to come out with intensity and fire. It does not matter if there are two fans or 100,000 fans. Whether it is practice or whoever we’re playing, we always have to bring the fire and intensity.

On Baylor: Watching them on film, these guys are a lot better than they have been in the past. They have a lot of talent this year.
