Two Longhorns earn CFPA honors
Nov. 4, 2012 Texas Longhorns sophomore quarterback David Ash and junior wide receiver Mike Davis were honored by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) on Sunday for their performances against Texas Tech this weekend. Ash was named Honorable Mention Quarterback of the Week after passing for 264 yards and three touchdowns on 11 of 19 passing. He has now thrown three or more TD passes for the third time this season. In 2012, Ash has completed 158 of 233 attempts (67.8 pct) for 1990 yards and 15 touchdowns. Davis was tabbed Honorable Mention Wide Receiver of the Week after catching two touchdown passes and tallying 165 receiving yards which is a new career-high. Davis’ touchdowns came on passes of 75 and 25 yards, the latter putting the ‘Horns up 31-22 in the fourth quarter. This season, Davis leads all Texas receivers with 724 yards on 38 receptions and six touchdowns. He vaulted from 10th to ninth on the Texas career receiving yards chart (1,811) by passing Wane McGarity (1995-98/1,687).
