 
Three Longhorns earn CFPA honors

Texas Longhorns quarterback David Ash, tight end Greg Daniels and safety Josh Turner, all sophomores, were honored by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) on Sunday for their performances against Iowa State this weekend. Ash was named Honorable Mention Quarterback of the Week after passing for 364 yards (10th all-time on the UT single-game list) and two touchdowns on 25 of 31 passing against the Cyclones. Ash now has three 300-yard passing games this season (Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss). He moved into ninth place on the UT career passing yards list with 3,433 yards passing in his two seasons of play. He overtook Bobby Layne (1944-47/3,145), who was 10th, and on Ash's second TD pass, he moved ahead of Garrett Gilbert (2009-11/3,301). Ash completed his first 11 passes of the game. In 2012, Ash has completed 183 of 264 attempts (69.3 pct) for 2354 yards and 17 touchdowns. Daniels was tabbed Honorable Mention Tight End of the Week after catching two passes for 62 yards. He caught a 47-yard pass on the Longhorns’ first play from scrimmage on a double-pass out of the Wishbone formation which was run in honor of the passing of legendary Texas head coach Darrell Royal. His two receptions and 62 yards receiving are both career highs. Daniels converted from defensive tackle this season and has three receptions for 72 yards in 2012. Turner was named Honorable Mention Defensive Back of the Week after posting four tackles (2 solo), 0.5 sacks, one interception and one tackle for loss in the Longhorns 33-7 win.
