Two Longhorns earn CFPA honors

Nov. 25, 2012

Texas Longhorns senior punter Alex King and freshman placekicker Nick Jordan were honored by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) on Sunday for their performances against TCU on Thanksgiving night.

King was named Honorable Mention Punter of the Week after punting twice for an average of 46.0 yards. It was his seventh game this season averaging more than 45.0 yards.

For the season, King has punted 35 times for 1591 yards for a 45.5 yards per punt average. King also has punted the ball inside the opponents’ 20-yard line 14 times and has nine punts of 50 yards or more. King’s per punt average would rank first in the conference and seventh in the nation if he had the required 3.6 punts per game (King averages 3.18 punts per game).

Jordan was tabbed Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week after kicking two 25-yard field goals and an extra point against TCU on Thursday.

The true freshman is seven-for-11 on field goal attempts this season (63.6 pct) which ranks him fifth all-time for accuracy as a freshman kicker at Texas.
