Seven Longhorns were included on the All-America teams for Sporting News and the Associated Press with senior QB Colt McCoy becoming Texas’ 20th unanimous All-American after being chosen to both.
For Sporting News, McCoy and seniors WR Jordan Shipley and DE/LB Sergio Kindle were named to the first team, while senior OT Adam Ulatoski and sophomore S Earl Thomas were on the second team.
On the Associated Press teams, Shipley and Thomas joined McCoy on the first, making both players consensus All-America. The three consensus honors are tied for second-most all-time and are the most for the Longhorns since a school-record four in 2005. Texas has now had 54 consensus All-Americans, which is ninth all-time in NCAA history. In addition, Kindle, C Chris Hall and K Hunter Lawrence were on the third team.
This season, McCoy became the NCAA’s all-time winningest quarterback and has won the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Player of the Year Award, Maxwell Award (nation’s top player), Davey O’Brien Award (nation's top QB) and Unitas Golden Arm Award (nation's top senior QB). Along with being a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, he is a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, the Wooden Cup and Manning Award (nation’s top QB).
In addition to their All-America honors, Shipley was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award (nation’s top receiver), Thomas was a finalist for the Thorpe Award (nation’s top DB), Kindle was the first player to ever be a finalist for the both the Butkus Award (nation’s top LB) and Hendricks Award (nation’s top DE), Hall was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy (nation's top center), Lawrence was a semifinalist for the Groza Award (nation's top kicker), while Ulatoski was first-team Academic All-America.
